Charlie Rosser is a documentary director and producer whose work examines the intersection of conflict, environmental destruction and human rights. His films and reporting have taken him from the front lines of Ethiopia and Burma to the depths of the Brazilian Amazon, with support from the Catapult Film Fund, the Fritt Ord Foundation, the Pulitzer Center and Media Trust. His work has been published by Al Jazeera English, Vice News, National Geographic, The Guardian and The Atlantic.
He is currently producing Reckoning, a feature documentary following a federal prosecutor’s landmark investigation into illegal gold mining in Yanomami territory. Developed with the Catapult Film Fund, the project was pitched at Hot Docs Forum and Sheffield DocFest in 2024. His directorial debut, The Quiet Soldier, produced by Antipode Films (No Other Land, 2024), was filmed over four years in Burma’s Karenni State and is currently in post-production.
His filmmaking is defined by investigative rigour, long-term access and close human observation, seeking not only to document events but also the unseen forces - history, belief and memory - that shape them. He is based between Barcelona and London and is currently producing documentaries and podcasts for Al Jazeera English.
